Closed for Christmas Vacation

Whew....it's almost Christmas and I'm getting really close to getting all caught up. It's been a very busy couple of months and I had an extremely successful Christmas special. Just thought I would post just a few of the pics I took during it. I appreciate all the people that came out. It was so nice to be in the new studio. I know I had several groups that there was no way I could of fit them in my old space. I still have several things i'm wanting to do to the studio, I just had to wait til I slow down to get some of them done. The last of the orders that customers are needing by Christmas got picked up today, and I'm about ready to start my Christmas vacation. I will be closed from Wednesday, December 24 thru Monday, December 29th. I will be back in the studio on Tuesday the 30th. All emails and phone calls will be returned then. Thanks to all my customers who made 2008 such a successful year and I hope everybody has a very Merry Christmas!

First Photo Shoot!

Sometimes I get asked, "How old does our baby have to be to do their first photo shoot?" My answer always is, "As soon as you can get them here!" Last week I had 2 brand new babies, Miss Madison, who was 5 days old and Mr. Daxton, who was 6 days old. The newborn shoot seems like it's always the longest shoot. They are asleep when you want them awake, awake when you want them asleep. Sometimes you would settle for either asleep or awake, as long as they weren't crying. It's almost always a safe bet that somebody or something is going to get peed on! But all that work and all that waiting is definitely worth it, you'll get some of the most precious photos that you will treasure for a lifetime!

Exciting news!

Ok, I know there's not much to look at yet, but I had to share my exciting news! After being open for business for three years out of my house, I decided it was time to build a studio. I'm not moving too far, just about 100 feet from the house, so I will still be at the same location. It's going to be so nice to have this huge space to dedicate just to my photography. The walls started going up today, and I'm hoping to be in it by the end of October, but we'll see! I just want to thank all my wonderful customers for supporting me these last three years and helping me to grow my business bigger and more quickly then I had ever expected!

4th of July

Hope you all had a great 4th of July. I had little Hope come in all decked out in her red, white and blue. She is just the sweetest baby, and those eyelashes! Thanks Staci and Hope!

Back to work!

It was back to work for me this week after my long vacation last week. I went to Pennsylvania to visit my sister and her family. I was very tempted to leave my camera at home, since for me it's like taking along my work, but I did end up lugging that heavy thing with me. Mainly because my sister wanted me to take her family portrait while I was there. One day we went to Washington D.C. My sister knows somebody that works at the White House, so we was able to get a private tour of both the East and West Wings. I wasn't able to take too many pictures there, since it's not allowed, but got some pictures of us outside the White House, and inside the press room that you see on TV all the time. It was pretty cool, I really enjoyed it! Hopefully I will have time soon to post some of them on here. My sister lives close to Hershey, PA so one day we went to Chocolate World! That place just made me hungry for chocolate! We all had a really good time, but also glad to be back. There's definitely no place like home!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my nephew Mason! He turns 3 years old today! They came recently for his three year pictures and a family portrait. He's getting a little tougher to take his picture, we took alot of breaks! Mason's the reason why I first bought studio lights. I wanted to take his picture when he was a baby, since I took his big sister Madyson's pictures every year. It was shortly after he was born that I officially became a photography business.

Prom night!

Last Saturday was several of the area school proms. I took pictures at the Sheldon High School prom that was held in Lamar. I always enjoy doing proms and getting to see all the kids dressed up. Their theme this year was P.S. I love you!

Jessie's Senior Photos!

Senior Time Again!

I've been getting those last few seniors calling, wanting to get their pictures taken before they graduate. It's still not exactly pretty yet for those nice spring outside portraits, but I was able to make it work for Jessie's session last week. It was a chilly morning, but at least it wasn't raining. If you are a 2008 senior and you haven't gotten your pictures taken yet, you still have some time! Give me a call!

One.....Two......Three!

Oh my! Another set of triplets started their Baby's First Year program last week, and what dolls they are! Kinda makes me want to have a baby, but my luck I would have 3 at once also, and I just don't think I can handle that! Who needs to have kids when I get to see so many cute ones every week, play with them, don't have to change their diapers and just send them home. I have a great job! I am really looking forward to photographing these girls over the next year. See ya for your 6 month session in June!

Thank You!

Thanks to all the people that made my Spring Special a success this year. I had such a great turnout and my bunnies were awesome! Thanks to the Speagle family for letting me borrow them. I just thought I would show you a few of the pictures that I took over the Spring special weekend.

Most Photographed Child!

This poor child is going to grow up hating his Aunt Jayme! I've taken so many photographs of Ruger since day one of his life. You should see the walls of his house. They are already running out of room for photos and he's not even one year old yet! It was time for Ruger's eleven month photos this week, so I did some close-ups to show that gorgeous face and those beautiful blue eyes!

Seeing Triple!

The triplets were here on Saturday for their 9 month portraits and boy are they growing so fast! It's always a little stressful when they come, because you never know if one is going to have an off day. It's hard enough to do one baby, but trying to shoot three that are all the same age...whew! It wasn't much of a challenge this time though, because each one of the girls were wonderful. I had such a good time with them and got the most precious shots! Thanks girls, see ya in 3 months!

Easter/Spring Special!

Busy, Busy!

I've been pretty busy this past week, so I haven't had much time to blog. I've been shooting and editing away, trying to get everybody's pictures up online as quickly as possible. So just thought I would share a few pictures that I've been taking.

Spring Portraits!

It's not to early to start thinking about Easter/Spring Portraits. Easter falls early this year, March 23rd. I am doing a Children's Spring Special again this year, which is planned for March 1st and 2nd. That will give you plenty of time to get them back by Easter Sunday. I'm hoping to have real bunnies this year available to be in your child's portrait. Once I get all my background and props figured out and find Ruger a cute outfit so he can be my model, I'll be sending out postcards with all the information. If you are not already on my mailing list, please email me your address, magicwand@wildblue.net and I'll be sure to mail you out a postcard. Or if you already know you want to make an appointment, just give a call! (417) 228-1016

New Prop

Keghan was the first to try out my new bathtub prop last week. I think they turned out adorable! All of her pictures did! This was probably the best shoot i've had with Keghan. She stayed happy the whole time! 9 Month old girls are probably my favorite shoot of all. Thanks Keghan!

Bath Time!

Max is one of my Baby's First Year Plan babies, and last week it was time for his 9 month session. Max is such a happy baby, so his shoot went very smoothly and we got some awesome shots! He's one of those kids that I could sit and take his picture all day long. He brought his old time underwear with the back panel in it.....soooo cute! We did some with his little toosh showing, but I didn't want to show the world those pictures...hahaha! Poor kid is going to be so embarrassed of those pictures when he gets older. He also brought an antique bassinet that's been in his family for years. I always love when people bring props that are special to them, which in turn will make their photos even more special. Thanks Max, I can't wait for your one year session in a few months, but I will be sad that your one year plan will be over!

Gone Fishin'!

This little cutie came this week to do some fishing. He didn't catch much but the ivy, but I think he had fun! I was able to catch something myself, some really good smiles! Thanks Luke!

My Little Valentine!

If you've ever been to me for pictures, you probably have heard me talk about my nephew, Ruger. He has his photos taken every month, and last week was his 10 month portrait session. Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, we went with the Valentine theme. The little stinker is already walking, so he kept just wanting to walk right out of the photo! He also brought his 2 year old cousin, Ayden, so they could have some pictures taken together for Grandma. Boy, did they have me worn out by the time we were done! I couldn't resist showing you several from their session. Stay tuned for Ruger's next months portraits!

Adorable!

Xander came for his 3 month portraits last week. He brought his big brother Wyatt, even though Wyatt didn't really want to have his picture taken! Xander did awesome and gave me some great smiles.
The baby's first year is such an important year to photograph. They change and grow up so much that first year. I have a Baby's First Year Program, which includes 4 appointments, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and a one year session. Please give me a call for more information!

Howdy Partner!

I can't believe Cooper is going to be turning one this month! Just seems like yesterday when I went to the hospital to visit him when he was born. He has grown and changed so much since then. Cooper came Saturday for his one year portraits, all decked out in his wranglers and his Justin Boots! He was even wearing a western shirt that belonged to his dad when he was a little boy, how cute! I always enjoy photographing him and his big sisters, they keep me entertained!

Ahhh.....three year olds!

Brett came recently for his three year pictures. We had such a good time, and he definitely kept me laughing during the whole shoot. He's such a cutie and has lots of personality. There's just nothing like photographing a three year old. Now a two year old, that's a challenge! That's when they become independent, and there's just no getting them to do something if they don't want to do it! I just have to sit and wait for them to do something cute. Usually by the time they turn three, they are following directions and are pretty easy to make smile, as you can tell from this photo of Brett. Thanks Brett, you did so well!

New Year Resolutions

I normally don't do New Year's resolutions, but I thought I would try this year. I've been wanting to start a blog for quite sometime, so I'm using the start of the new year as an excuse to do one. I hope to keep up with it throughout the year, posting to it at least a few times a week. Nothing is more annoying then to go to read someones blog and they haven't posted it to it for months! I will be using the blog to let everybody know what's going on here at Magic Wand Photography and to write about the recent photo sessions that I've done.

I spent a couple of hours of my New Year's day with the Stacy family. They came from far and wide to get together with family for the holidays, so I was happy to be able to photograph them while they were all in town. When was the last time your family has gotten together for a family portrait? If you are like most families, it's probably been a while! So make it your New Year's resolution to get that family portrait done!
